According to the Roman mythology, Cupid is the god of the lovers. Eros would be his counterpart in the Greek culture, as Kamadeva would be in Hinduism. He is the son of Venus and Mars. He was thought to be the one that brought love and passion to the mortals, and is often represented as a winged boy (similar to an angel). Being the son of the gods of love and war, Cupid is the lovers god, as a balance between love and tragedy.
